Greetings from the editorial team APJORD and Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP). CIRDAP is a regional intergovernmental organization working for integrated rural development in the Asia-Pacific region. It is our great pleasure to invite you to submit your original article for APJORD. It is devoted to the issues and discussions on integrated rural development, primarily in the Asia-pacific region. The journal provides a platform for the academicians, policymakers, development practitioners, research scholars and others interested in integrated rural development (IRD) to exchange and share ideas, opinions, field observations, and empirical findings on various facets of rural development.

It is an internationally listed, peer reviewed and ISSN accredited research journals that publishes research papers/articles/manuscripts/book reviews/case studies on multifarious topics related to integrated rural development including but not limited to agriculture, agribusiness, poverty, rural livelihood, climate change, microfinance, community development, local government, decentralization, water, blue economy, rural technology, disaster management, rural tourism, food, rural health, livestock, animal husbandry and fisheries, rural information management, land, renewable energy, women empowerment etc. The journal is published twice a year (June and December) but submissions are accepted any time of the year.

Each issue contains Articles which are usually reports of empirical studies, review articles, or theoretical articles; Practitioners’ Papers that usually cover field experiences and small case studies with initial findings of scholarly interest. Book reviews also form a part of the journal.

Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM) in India

Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM) 18th batch is going to start from August 2020. It’s a one-year residential course conducted by National Institute for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad, India. CIRDAP is offering some slots of PGDRDM programme for its member countries sponsored by MoRD, Govt of India to develop a committed and competent cadre of Rural Development Management Professionals in CMCs.

Nominations are expected from CIRDAP member countries. Interested organizations (Government/Non-Government/Autonomous bodies related to rural development) can nominate suitable candidates according to eligibility criteria and send nomination to training@cirdap.org. Note that no direct application will be considered.

This Program designed by CIRDAP for a first course of Young Professional (YP) program. Our goal is to intend the book a strong grounding in the design, construction, and analysis of computer system through ‘problem solving’ skills associated with the study of effectively manage of computer and network systems.
The material here is grounded in the concept to attend Young Professional (YP) program arranged by Center on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) should be part of the study of backbone course of Computer System. CIRDAP Centre on Geoinformatics Applications for Rural Development (CGARD) with technical support from National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), India, is offering a weekend batch of Intermediate Certificate Course on GIS and its Applications to be organized 03 April-02 May, 2020, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The course is designed for students and professionals who want to make the best use of the latest spatial technologies in their professional fields. GIS, the powerful technology is emerging as an important tool for the advancement of business, natural resource management, disaster management, development planning, agriculture, urban planning, rural development, civil engineering and other fields. CIRDAP – NIRDPR Collaborative International Training Programme on Natural Resources Management for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods

Strategy for sustainable rural development is to be adopted to improve the productivity of the natural resources and develop the capabilities of the rural communities to make optimum use of these natural resources for their livelihood.

In this context, CIRDAP in collaboration with NIRDPR of India is organizing the international training program on Natural Resources Management for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods in NIRDPR, India from the 22nd to 31st January 2020.

The training program is designed to discuss in depth the various strategies and approaches adopted for NRM for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods, for the rural poor with a focus on rural development and poverty alleviation for the participants of the CIRDAP member countries.

Planning Workshop for CIRDAP National Coordinators

CIRDAP is organizing a Planning Workshop for the CIRDAP National Coordinators on 11-13 March 2019 in Cumilla, Bangladesh.

The Governing Council (GC -21) meeting in Manila, Philippines in 2017, approved CIRDAP’s Strategic Plan 2018-2022, in which the Secretariat was impressed upon the need to strengthen coordination on between CIRDAP, the CMCs, CLIs and development partners. To reinforce its effort to achieve the Strategic Plan and better coordination, each member countries has appointed a CIRDAP National Coordinator to act as focal point of coordination between the above institutions, especially on programme activities.

This planning workshop is intended to bring together National Coordinators of all CIRDAP Member Countries to orient and brainstorm on CIRDAP programme activities for better planning.

 The main purpose of the Workshop is for coordinators –

(i) to participate in the planning of the revised 2019 programmes and proposed biannual 2020-2021 programmes;

(ii) to communicate with the National Coordinators’ (NC) on the system and processes of CIRDAP; and

(iii) to provide the opportunity for NCs’ to share their good practices on selected rural development programme(s).

It is expected that this workshop will enhance the capacity of the national coordinator and enable them to contribute for sustainable rural development in their respective countries.
