The World Fisheries Day celebrated in CIRDAP

World Fisheries Day on “Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture: Impact of Climate Change and Mitigation Measures”

CIRDAP organized the webinar to celebrate the World Fisheries Day with a very important and burning issue in the world on 27 November, 2023. The thematic topic was “Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture: Impact of Climate Change and Mitigation Measures”. The speaker was Dr. Grinson George Padinjakara, Principal Scientist & HoD, Marine Biodiversity and Environment Management Division, ICAR- Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute Kochi, Kerala, India.

In his presentation, Dr. Grinson briefly talked about the Climate Change Impacts on Ocean and its impact on fisheries; Ocean Acidification; Green fishing; Coral bleaching; Impacts in Aquatic life; Impact on Fisher man with the issue of migration, loss of income and property, Health problems and debt & management; and etc. The presentation covers the more related issues of climate change and huge impact on fisheries and aquaculture. At the end of the webinar presentation, there was a lively Q&A sessions held amongst the participants.
