The International Women’s Day
Tuesday 8 March 2022

Excellency, Ladies & Gentlemen, Today, we celebrate the International Women’s Day at the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP). The United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as an Official UN International Day for Women’s right and world peace. This international women’s day commemorates the cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements of women. It also addresses women’s right’s movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive right, and violence and abuse against women. The theme for the International Women’s Day on 8 March, 2022 (IWD 2022) is, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change mitigation and adaptation and response to build a more sustainable future for all. The Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) is supporting women’s and girls’ works and rights in every aspect in the society. CIRDAP works towards gender equality, women’s education, and decent jobs which helps women’s to be empowered. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the progress being made by Women. On behalf of CIRDAP, I would like to call for immediate global attention to ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities at all levels of political, economic and public life. CIRDAP is proud to organize a Discussion Forum for celebrating the International Women Day on 8 March 2022 on the topic:  We can # Break the Bias. Thank you for your kind attention.
