Upcoming Tri-Country Training Design Workshop on Cooperatives Management (10-15 November, 2024)

A Training Design Workshop on agro based Cooperatives Management in Asia and Pacific and Study visit to Successful cooperatives in Bangkok, Phetchaburi, and Ratchaburi Provinces, Thailand will be held on 10-15 November, 2024.

The workshop on Designing the Syllabus on a 2-3 week Training on Regional Cooperatives Management in Asia and the Pacific (Supply Chain Management – including training on agro-based post-harvest technologies and Climate Change Adaptation and Natural Disaster Risk Management for Food Security) and a study Tour of selected successful cooperatives in Thailand will be implemented. 

The workshop will be attended by the officials from all the three countries including CIRDAP Experts. 

The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, and Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that promotes cooperative training programs to strengthen and advance farmers’ associations and agricultural cooperatives throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The MoU focuses on supporting cooperatives with modern technologies, networking with other cooperative organizations, assisting member countries in developing policies for rural transformation, and organizing regional training programs.

Focus of Joint Activities:

(a) Support cooperatives with the application of modern technologies;

(b) Networking with other cooperatives organization for exchanging experiences;

(c) Assist the CIRDAP member countries in formulating and implementing database, GIS and ICT comprehensive framework for development of policies, plans and strategies aimed at rural transformation, adaptive management and enhancing livelihood, inter alia, through cooperatives and related rural development models and best practices.

(d) Organize 3-week flagship regional training programmes on Integrated Rural Development, Governance, Trade and Sustainable Development by CIRDAP in partnership with parties on a cost-sharing basis.

(e) Empowerment of Women in Cooperatives: Promote women’s participation in cooperatives to enhance their roles in climate adaptation, sustainable farming practices, and enterprise development. This includes training programs focused on integrating gender perspectives.
