Call for CIRDAP IRD Expert

Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) is calling for Expression of Interest (EOI) from Rural Development Experts from CIRDAP Member Countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam) for the position of CIRDAP IRD Expert. The guidelines and application process are as follows: Criteria Roles and Responsibilities Benefits The incumbent will be paid honorarium in recognition of a special service provided under his/her roles and responsibilities. Tenure The incumbent is appointed for a term of two years, and subject to extension for another term. Application Process Deadline for Application/Nomination: 31 August 2019.

CIRDAP to work with PIDF for resilient Pacific

CIRDAP will strengthen its partnership with Pacific Island Development Forum (PIDF) to promote rural development through regional cooperation among the Asia-Pacific Countries. Director General of CIRADP Mr. Tevita G. Boseiwaqa Taginavulau, expressed CIRDAPโ€™s commitment to work with regional organisations including PIDF in the mutual areas of interest during the First PIDF Conference held in Nadi, Fiji on 29 July, 2019. The conference with a theme of โ€œStrengthening South-South Cooperation for a Resilient Pacificโ€ has explored the ways of leveraging the opportunities provided by South-South cooperation to build horizontal and inclusive relationships that add complementary value to the development agenda in the Pacific. The Conference, which was organised by Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF), has been attended by leaders from the Pacific countries, Representatives of private sector, NGOs, multilateral agencies, international and regional organizations. DG CIRDAP also moderated a plenary Session on ‘South-South Cooperation for the blue and green economy โ€“ Implementation and Financing’. Discussants of the session discussed about the public and private engagement strategies that can be harnessed to derive maximum benefits from the blue/green economy, while supporting community resilience. CIRDAP is trying to reach out other Pacific countries to join CIRDAP in its effort for inclusive and sustainable rural development in the Asia-pacific region.

Rural Development Symposium 2018 Held

Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) and Ministry of Rural & Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Government of the Republic of Fiji has organised the Rural Development Symposium 2018 in Nadi, Fiji, from 16th to 17th April, 2018. The symposium was opened by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji, Qian Bo. Over 100 participants and experts from key government agencies and stakeholders attended the meeting to take part in the symposium to provide their valuable input in the development of Rural Development policy. Representative from other thirteen CIRDAP member countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam participated in the meeting. Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development, National Disaster Management of Government of the Republic of the Fiji, Mr. Meleti Bainimarama said that the objective of the symposium is to brainstorm, get ideas and views from stakeholders on how they could better serve the rural population. The symposium was comprised of 5 sessions focused on the flowing thematic areas: Transforming the Rural Economy; Connectivity in ICT; Financial Inclusion and Economic Empowerment, Governance in Rural Development; and Rural Development and Emerging Issues.
